These distinctive hand-carved marionettes are traditional horse puppets crafted by the Bamana people of Mali. While local sellers or auction listings might occasionally describe their long, curved necks using descriptive shorthand like "banana," they are formally known as Bamana Hobby Horse Puppets. They are integral to Sogo Bò—a vibrant community puppet masquerade tradition.
