A Traditional African Mambila Style Mask stands out as one of the most aggressively stylized, abstract, and distinctive forms in West African art. Originating from the Mambila people, who live on the mountainous Mambila Plateau straddling the border of Nigeria and Cameroon, these masks completely bypass realism in favor of dramatic geometric lines, heart-shaped countenances, and deep ritual functions.

Traditional Mambila masks originate from the Mambila people, who live along the border of Nigeria and Cameroon in the West African grassfields. These masks are deeply tied to ancestral rituals, agricultural cycles, and secret societies.
