The Baule people of Côte d'Ivoire are famous for their blolo bla (female) and blolo bian (male) figures, often called "spirit spouses." The Agni (or Anyi) people are also located in Côte d'Ivoire and share some linguistic and historical roots with the Baule, but their figural traditions serve different purposes.
