A Mahe Yafei (also spelled mahei yafei or maha yafa) is a historic, naturalistic stone head sculpture produced by the Kissi (or Qisi) people of Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia. Carved primarily from steatite (soapstone), these statues represent people of high status and are highly valued examples of West African stone-carving traditions
