The Senufo Kpelie mask (also spelled Kpeliye'e) is a traditional, hand-carving wooden face mask created by the Senufo people of Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, and Burkina Faso. These masks represent an ideal of feminine beauty and fertility, yet they are exclusively carved and performed by men belonging to the prestigious, all-male Poro initiation society.
