A Bambara (or Bamana) carved wood adze is a traditional, hand-forged West African tool. Used primarily by blacksmiths (numu), these adzes were the cornerstone for carving ceremonial objects—like Chiwara antelopes and masks. The distinctive adze marks left on historical pieces are a hallmark of authentic, hand-hewn African tribal art.
