The Kakuungu is a historically powerful, giant ritual mask created by the Suku and Yaka peoples of the southwestern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It stands as one of the largest and most imposing mask types in sub-Saharan Africa, often measuring well over two feet tall—with some monumental museum examples reaching up to 1.6 meters (over 5 feet) in height.
