The African Duala (or Douala) Nyatti Mask is a highly graphic, stylized wooden zoomorphic mask created by the Duala people, a coastal ethnic group living along the mouth of the Wouri River in the Littoral region of Cameroon. Representing a bush cow or water buffalo (nyatti), these striking masks are globally celebrated for their unique flat geometric composition, contrasting polychrome pigments, and deep ties to coastal secret societies.
