The African Hemba Soko Mutu carved wood mask—also known as Soko Muntu or Mwisi Gwa So’o—is a highly expressive zoomorphic ritual artifact crafted by the Hemba people of the southeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. The term translates literally from Swahili and KiHemba to "brother of man" or "monkey face", representing a stylized, humanlike chimpanzee spirit.
