The Lwalu (Lwalwa) Shifola (or Shifoola) is a highly coveted traditional African male mask originating from the Lwalu people, who live along the Kasai River region between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Angola. Renowned for their cubistic, highly stylized geometry, these hand-carved wood masks heavily influenced Western Modernist artists like Pablo Picasso in the early 20th century.
