A Bamana animal puppet is a traditional wooden marionette or mask from Mali, primarily used in vibrant Sogo Bo masquerade performances. Created by the Bamana and Bozo peoples, these puppets depict bush animals, water creatures, and mythical beings, and are used by village youth to entertain, teach moral values, and critique society. Approx. 24" tall overall.
